VNG Shares Technology Solutions with International Markets

Mr. Gareth Ward, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Vietnam, visited VNG Joint Stock Company (VNG) to exchange ideas and explore investment potentials in the Vietnamese technology sector.

The purpose of the Ambassador's visit was to gain a deeper understanding of VNG, Vietnam's first billion-dollar technology "unicorn," and to consider investment directions and collaboration opportunities between the UK and Vietnam in areas such as Fintech (financial technology) and Smart City development. These are fields where the UK has expertise and which align with VNG's focus in its new strategy.

Talking at the meeting on June 25, Ambassador Gareth Ward expressed his desire to develop smart city projects, how to make Ho Chi Minh City become the technology center of Asia, as well as turn Vietnam into become an attractive destination for British businesses.

"The UK is strong in fintech, games and wants to have more opportunities to cooperate with Asian countries. We want to learn more about the Ho Chi Minh City market, about outstanding technology trends here" , the Ambassador shared.

Mr. Le Hong Minh, the General Director of VNG, shared his insights on the potential of the Vietnamese market with the Ambassador. Mr. Minh highlighted Vietnam's supportive policies for the high-tech sector, its skilled workforce, and its ability to adopt new technology platforms.

During the visit, Ambassador Gareth Ward also learned about VNG's diverse ecosystem of technology products. The Unipass project, a smart electronic ticket card for Ho Chi Minh City's public transportation, stood out as a notable achievement in building a smart city, with around 225 buses involved in the pilot program and nearly 3.5 million tickets traded via Unipass.
