Continuing the strategic vision of “To jointly develop and deliver accessible, effective AI solutions for every Vietnamese enterprise", on September 11, 2025, VNG Cloud partnered with SotaTek to host the webinar “Building GenAI Projects Based on Enterprise Proprietary Data". The event offered participants a comprehensive picture of the AI project journey, from GenAI application layers to operational infrastructure, along with real-world experiences deploying Sotabox.ai on the VNG Cloud AI Stack.

Over the course of 60 minutes, Mr. Mai Hai Duong - Product Manager, AI & Cloud, VNG Cloud and Mr. Vu The Anh - Director of Data Science, SotaTek shared the common challenges enterprises often face when adopting AI, while analyzing how to leverage technology combined with local infrastructure to optimize costs, secure data, and scale flexibly.

The webinar kicked off with our speakers sharing an overview of a typical AI project, helping the audience clearly visualize the key components that make up an AI initiative.

Cost, data, and scalability are the three biggest challenges when implementing AI projects. During the webinar, speakers from VNG Cloud and SotaTek shared practical insights, experiences, and solutions to help Vietnamese businesses address each of these critical challenges.

The cost challenge in AI - How are enterprises addressing It?

From both SotaTek and VNG Cloud perspectives, the speakers agreed that the costs of an AI project go beyond infrastructure - they also include high-quality talent and deployment speed.

Mr. Vu The Anh (SotaTek) shared: Before partnering with VNG Cloud, the SotaTek team spent nearly two years building their own AI infrastructure. During the MVP phase, experimenting with multiple AI models and tools significantly increased costs for foundation models and infrastructure investment. The “hidden iceberg” of infrastructure and data management created heavy pressure on DevOps, while the cost of recruiting and retaining skilled AI engineers was very high, with even greater risk if key personnel left the project mid-way.

The turning point came when SotaTek adopted the VNG Cloud AI Stack. Its flexible GPU and database infrastructure, on-demand scalability, and managed services reduced operational burden, optimized workloads, and significantly shortened the deployment time of SotaBox.ai, all while maintaining cost efficiency.

Moreover, the integration of Kafka as the only managed service in Vietnam, combined with advanced monitoring, helped SotaTek significantly reduce costs, shorten deployment timelines, and enhance customer experience. With multi-region infrastructure (HN & HCM), the system consistently achieved high availability and stronger stability compared to international services.

Mr. The Anh further emphasized that SotaTek’s customers highly value the stability, quality support, and superior performance of operating on VNG Cloud compared to other providers.

Scale & Adapt: Leaner for Sustainable Growth 

When scaling AI, data scalability becomes a constant challenge. In the past, SotaTek had built its own file servers and experimented with multiple open-source platforms, but faced heavy bottlenecks and running costs.

The key lesson learned: Not to replicate open-source solutions entirely, but to adopt a lean development approach - building only the necessary features in C & Golang. This strategy enabled the system to optimize performance, reduce operational costs, and expand more flexibly to support long-term AI growth.
